Online Music

Description

Online Music covers online businesses which sell audio files on a per-song and/or subscription basis. Business models vary but can be differentiated into music stores offering music file downloads versus streaming services offering listening without actually owning the source file. Subscription models pioneered by the likes of Spotify either offer free access with advertising or allow users to pay a monthly fee giving them access to a specified number of songs per month without purchasing the songs outright.Online Music also covers discovery services such as those offered by Shazam for identifying audio, typically as a step prior to purchasing related music or engaging with a product provider using the audio for promotion.
