Some owners of the new iPhone 3G S are complaining that the smartphone's battery life is falling short of expectations. Analysts are attributing the problem to flaws in the 3.0 operating system update, which was released on June 17, as well as the introduction of push notifications, which allows software to run in the background.
Apple is not acknowledging a problem with the iPhone 3G S’s battery, but is working on a 3.1 update that might confront the issue. The beta software development kit was released to developers on July 5.
Startup CollegeKidApp has also developed an application called "Battery Go!", which can be used to monitor the amount of talk, internet and music time users have left on their battery charge.
