Apple has reportedly filed a ‘solar cells on portable devices’ patent, essentially a technology that would enable a layer of solar cells to be inserted under a touch-screen, such as the one used on the iPhone. The device’s battery could then be recharged while being left in the sun. The patent has apparently been filed by Apple employees, some of whom are iPod engineers.
