Skimlinks raises USD1.5m for affiliate links

Affiliate marketing platform Skimlinks has raised USD1.5m in a Series A funding round led by Sussex Place Ventures. The National Endowment for Science, Technology and the Arts (NESTA) and The Accelerator Group also participated, along with previous angel investors.

Skimlinks says it plans to use the funds to expand its US operations and invest in sales and marketing initiatives and product development. The company, which launched in December 2008, provides an affiliate links tools which lets web publishers convert retailer links on their pages into affiliate links. The service is free, but Skimlinks takes a cut of any commission on sales. Skimlinks says it currently supports 7,000 businesses across 22 affiliate networks and has seen month-on-month growth of 35% over the past year.
