CNN International has signed a deal with Samsung in which the manufacturer will be the first to offer a pre-loaded CNN news application. The new Java-based app will be available on a new range of five mega-pixel camera phones from May. The application is also now available to download for free to a number of other Samsung, Nokia and Sony Ericsson handsets.

The news application gives users access to CNN reports, images and video. Users can also submit their own images and videos to CNN's citizen journalism website through the java tool.

CNN's mobile service is available free in Europe, the Middle East, Africa, Asia-Pacific and Latin America. The embedded tool will be launched first in Europe, while the downloadable version is available on WAP site, CNNmobile.com.

In Oct Nokia partnered with CNN-IBN, a joint venture between Time Warner, Turner International and Global Broadcast News, to broadcast live news on its handsets.
