Hughes and Wayport set Wi-Fi access deal

Hughes Network Systems has reached an agreement with Wayport to offer a discounted Wi-Fi service to its HughesNet satellite broadband subscribers. The deal covers more than 10,000 US locations, including selected hotels, participating McDonald's restaurants and Hertz rental car airport locations. The Wi-Fi package will be available to HughesNet subscribers for USD14.99 a month. Wayport's standard monthly Wi-Fi service rate is USD29.95, based on a one-year contract.

HughesNet is available throughout the continental US. The company currently serves more than 400,000 consumers and small businesses, mostly in areas with little or no cable or DSL broadband service.
