Dutch web design firm Baidu is selling its Baidu.eu domain in order to avoid confusion with the world's second-biggest search engine, China-based Baidu. The web design firm is said to be in talks with a number of companies around the world including a US pornography firm, a Brazilian web firm and a Thai search engine. The name is also being auctioned on eBay, with a starting price of USD25,000. It comes with 15 other Baidu names, including a Twitter account and trademarks.
The Chinese search engine may be interested in bidding for the name to avoid confusion with a potential search rival or to avoid association with an adult site.
