Twitter Japan, which is run by tech company Digital Garage, has generated JPY200m (USD2.4m) from ad sales in the six months since the launch of its ad service in December. According to a report in the Wall Street Journal, Twitter Japan has sold ad space to 82 different companies including Nissan, Panasonic and Sharp. The logos of these 82 companies will appear on the site in April, again raising ad revenue. Digital Garage has also predicted that through to June 2011, ad sales for its social media unit - of which Twitter makes up over half - will more than double to USD20m.

Monthly ad impressions on the site have doubled to 700m views from January to June, says Digital Garage. Twitter Japan attracted almost 10m visitors in April - 16% of all Japan's internet users.
