Motorola Mobility has filed a patent infringement suit against Apple, which seeks an import ban on the company's range of mobile and desktop devices in the US. The lawsuit, filed with the US International Trade Commission, claims that Apple devices such as the iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch infringe seven of Motorola's patents on features including email notification, location reminders and even Siri voice recognition.
The dispute between the companies began after talks to license each other’s products failed in 2010, with Apple arguing that Motorola was making unreasonable demands. “We would like to settle these patent matters, but Apple’s unwillingness to work out a license leaves us little choice but to defend ourselves and our engineers’ innovations,” says Motorola to Bloomberg.
