Nielsen Business Media has signed an ad-sharing deal with Meebo to put the Meebo toolbar onto Nielsen sites including THR.com and AdWeek. The bar will allow users to comment on content and share links and photos without leaving the publisher's websites. Ads will appear in the bottom-left corner of the bar, with revenue split between the two companies.

Deal Details

Meebo, founded in 2005, launched its first ad platform last September and has since signed deals with more than 200 sites including TechCrunch and the website of California governor Arnold Schwarzenegger. Meebo says that by allowing users to chat with friends and share content it increases user engagement and therefore traffic while providing sites with ad revenue. The company has so far received USD37.5m in venture capital, but is yet to disclose if it is profitable
