Apple says that it is "currently working on resolving" an issue causing it to send corrupt app updates to Mac and iOS device owners, in news that exposes a chink in Apple’s normally impenetrable app ecosystem. The fault has affected a range of apps including Angry Birds and Yahoo! Search, causing them to crash. The app, available in both Apple’s App Store and Google Play, claims to help organise a users’ phonebook, but instead sends spam to their address book via SMS.
