Carphone Warehouse CEO Charles Dunstone is rejecting calls from UK copyright groups to limit illegal downloaders’ internet access.
"If you try speed humps or disconnections for peer-to-peer, people will simply disguise their traffic or share the content another way," says Dunstone, according to a report in the Guardian.
The UK entertainment industry is putting forward proposals to stop piracy, which include slowing down internet speed for pirates or even cutting off their internet access. UK copyright groups are currently buoyed up by the heavy-handed actions taken in France and in Sweden. The French parliament recently approved a ‘three strikes’ policy, while Sweden recently jailed the four men behind the Pirate Bay file-sharing site.
