More than half of US households contain an Apple product, according to new research by CNBC's All-American Economic Survey, illustrating the firm’s continuing success in key areas such as laptops, smartphones and tablets. Approximately 55m US households contain at least one Apple gadget, according to CNBC, while approximately 5m of the 49% that do not yet own a device claiming that they plan to buy at least one in the coming year. More encouraging for Apple is the number of consumers with more than one Apple device, with 12% of respondents claiming that they own two, and 13% revealing that they own between three and four. Overall, the average US household owns 1.6 Apple devices, according to CNBC. It is the latest positive report on the firm that sold 72.6m iPads, iPhones, iPods and Macs during its last quarter.

However, while there is a lack of equivalent research available to measure UK consumers, recent research by TolunaQuick for Marketing Magazine suggests that some are growing concerned with Apple’s increasing dominance, and developing ‘technology fatigue’. The report claims that nearly a quarter of consumers say that they are “slightly bored” of Apple, while 40% claim to be “indifferent” towards the firm and its products.  

Nevertheless, Apple appears set to continue its success in the coming year. Recent stats from NPD claims that Apple was the top mobile PC seller in Q4, shipping almost 23.4m devices and maintaining its lead over HP, Dell, Acer and Lenovo, and Asymco analyst Horace Dediu believes that the recent launch of the new iPad will drive sales to grow 150% year on year, shifting 12.2m units this quarter.
