Apple's iPhone now accounts for half of new smartphone sales in the US, according to new data from Enders Analysis for Q1. Devices running on Google's Android operating system accounted for some 36% of sales in the US during the period. Globally, however, Android devices accounted for nearly 60% of new sales, driven by demand for low end devices. The iPhone represented a quarter of new sales in the quarter, with demand in emerging economies likely hampered by the device's high-end pricing.
