Google is crushingly dominant in the global mobile search market, boasting a huge 98.29% share of searches in July while closest competitor Yahoo! had just 0.8%, according to figures from StatCounter. Google's share is also on the rise, up from 95.55% in July 2009. Microsoft's Bing search engine accounts for just 0.46% of the market.
"Google's mobile search market share dominance is almost complete," says web analytics firm Pingdom, which reported the figures. "The company has made an incredible land grab in the mobile sector."
Google holds a 90.57% share of the overall search market, although its dominance varies in different regions. In Europe it has 94.66% of the market while in North America it has 83.64%.
