Activity feed service Swurl is an unexpected casualty of EMI’s lawsuit against music streaming application Seeqpod. EMI’s lawsuit names Swurl developer Ryan Sit, who used the Seeqpod API in one of his projects. Sit has now shut down Swurl.
Commentators say EMI’s action may dissuade other developers from borrowing APIs, hindering development of new programs and applications.
The Swurl site currently displays a letter from Sit and a co-developer saying the site is closing “due to the pressures of our day jobs and other distractions.”
