Social travel site Where Are You Now (WAYN) is rumoured to be in negotiations with AOL over a USD200m buy-out deal, according to TechCrunch UK. The tech blog cites three "well placed sources" who claim an official announcement has been delayed because talks have stalled over a proposed WAYN pay-out clause. However, WAYN's marketing manager, Anika Erskine explicitly denied the rumour, saying the company is "absolutely not for sale." Erskine told TechCrunch UK that the site is committed to its current business model, having recently launched a new version of their travel guides and added new services. She says they are moving towards "cutting edge mobile services, UK focused and rolling out across other countries." If the rumours are true, WAYN may notch up one of the biggest price tags yet for a UK social network startup, following in the footsteps of UK social music site, Last.fm, which was sold to CBS for USD280m in May 2007. Launched in 2002, WAYN operates in over 220 countries and claims to have over 10m users.
