Facebook has rolled out its app store in the UK as the social network steps up its efforts to generate revenues through payments. The store, originally unveiled before its IPO in May, was until now only available in the US, but the UK launch signifies Facebook’s intentions to roll the service out internationally. Consumers will be able to download both free and paid apps, taking a 30% cut of any purchases through its virtual currency, dubbed Facebook Credits. The App Center is also available through Facebook’s native iOS and Android apps, as the social network continues to reposition itself as a mobile-first company.
