Networking software developer JDSU has bought mobile performance specialist Arieso for USD85m. UK-based Arieso provides mobile operators with location-specific data they can use to optimise connectivity and reception. The startup, which lists AT&T and Telefonica among its clients, recently raised USD2.21m from VC firms including Qualcomm Ventures. JDSU will use the acquisition to increase its presence within mobile. The firm claims the mobile networking market is currently worth USD700m and is set to increase to USD1bn by 2015. Arieso's radio access network products and 100 employees will join JDSU under the deal.
