Consumer research firm Service Management Group (SMG) has purchased location analytics startup Locately for an undisclosed sum. Boston-based Locately uses a combination of GPS signals and mobile surveys to help retailers, manufacturers and restaurants understand consumers' shopping and dining choices. The startup says it has detected about 1.5m shopper visits and received responses to more than 600,000 location-triggered survey questions over the past year. Locately's six employees will join SMG's team, and its technology will now be available to all of SMG's clients.
