Google adds 13 new languages to voice search for Android

Google adding 13 additional European languages to its voice search feature for devices running on its Android operating system, as it attempts to boost uptake of the service. The update includes Basque, Bulgarian, Romanian, Slovak, Finnish, Catalan, Galician, Hungarian, Icelandic, Serbian, Swedish, Norwegian and European Portuguese, bringing the total to 42 languages and accents from 46 countries. The firm anticipates that the new languages will open up the service to 100m new speakers. However the update will only be available to users with devices operating Android version 2.2 and later, and users will only be able to user one language at a time.
