Facebook drives 1.1bn visits to third-party apps like Spotify

Facebook claims that it is referring an increasing number of visitors to apps hosted in its ecosystem, as it attempts to boost its partnerships with outside content providers. The social network claims that it pushed 160m unique visitors and 1.1bn visits to third-party apps in April, up substantially from 60m visitors and 320m visits in February. Facebook, which makes money from ads posed alongside content from third-party apps on its site, is hoping to prove its value to investors ahead of its IPO, which is expected next month.
