Facebook HTML5 users outnumber iOS and Android combined

Facebook claims users on its HTML5 site outnumber those using native mobile apps for Google's Android and Apple's iOS operating systems combined. This is attributed to the fact that Apple and Google's mobile browsers do not currently support photo uploads and animated features such as video for HTML5. This is likely to hamper Facebook's expansion plans, given its recent focus on photos and video as it attempts to evolve into a multimedia content hub. Facebook has attempted to boost its presence on mobile via the W3C community group for mobile developers, but Google and Apple, which account for much of the traffic on the mobile web via their Chrome and Safari browsers, have refused to join.
