Facebook is "most likely" to hit 1bn users by October if it continues its current growth trajectory, according to a report from Socialbakers using figures released by the network, driven by growth in countries such as Mexico and India. Wider growth in developing economies such as Asia and South America is expected to continue driving user numbers over the next few months, even as analysts warn that Facebook's growth in early adopting regions such as the UK and US is beginning to slow or stop altogether. The research house forecasts Facebook taking slightly longer to pass the milestone than an earlier report from iCrossing, which claims the social network will break the 1bn user barrier as early as August. The predictions are only likely to inflame investor interest in Facebook as it draws closer to its long-awaited public launch.
