YouTube to launch two new automotive channels

Thu Feb 9 2012, 11:46 AM

YouTube is launching two new automotive channels, one in partnership with MotorTrend magazine, which will feature eight original automotive shows, and one, named Drive, which will focus on car culture and reviews. The new channels come as part of YouTube’s plan to roll out 100 new channels featuring original programming across the site. YouTube hopes that this will encourage users to stay on the site longer, watching more programming in a bid to boost ad revenues. Ad spend for the automotive industry is expected to double to 12% of ad budgets through 2015, according to BIA/Kelsey.
