TastemakerX has raised USD1.8m in its first institutional funding round, ahead of its flagship product launch scheduled for the SXSW music festival in early March. The product, a social mobile music app, is designed for discovery, sharing, and a 'fantasy' gaming experience that encourages users to compete against one another for the best finds. A taste graph on users' profiles will "delineate personal taste and influence", along with geo-tagging, comments and photo sharing.
