Wed Feb 8 2012, 10:18 AM

Social influence monitor Klout is buying neighbourhood-based social firm Blockboard in an undisclosed deal as it moves to incorporate information from hyper-local sites onto its network. The acquisition comes on the back of Klout's recent USD30m funding round. Blockboard is a local forum where users can post news or share information, as well as report crimes and flag up issues in the community. Blockboard is expected to continue operating as an independent app within Klout.
