Social mobile video startup Viddy, whose iOS app has attracted interest from users such as Snoop Dogg, has bagged USD6m in a Series A round led by Battery Ventures. Greycroft Ventures, Qualcomm, Bessemer Ventures also participated in the funding, alongside angels Sky Fayton, Jarl Mohn and Christina Brodbeck. The app, which limits video clips to 15 seconds, and offers in-app video editing effects, including a number of premium features, is gaining popularity with 40m video views reported in January. Partnerships with entertainment brands such as the Muppets have also boosted the app’s visibility.
