The Motion Picture Association of America (MPAA) is suing defunct P2P filesharing site LimeWire, for an unspecified amount. Constituent studios, which include Twentieth Century Fox, Disney and Warner Bros., claim significant loss of revenue through copyright infringement by LimeWire users. The suits draws on the set in LimeWire's May 2011 USD105m settlement to the Recording Industry Association of America, which saw the site acknowledge a judge's decree that it "intentionally encouraged direct infringement". The MPAA is now demanding unspecified damages, based on the fact that film as well as music was shared on LimeWire's Java-based platform.
