Social car-pool startup, Ridejoy, has raised USD1.3m in seed funding from Freestyle Capital, Lerer Ventures, SV Angel, Founder Collective and Y Combinator, as well as angels Ben Ling, Owen Van Natta and Joshua Schachter. Ridejoy will use the new money to increase its design and engineering capacity, as well as expanding geographically beyond San Francisco and the West Coast. Ridejoy’s platform allows drivers and passengers to share journeys and meet friendly people, with more guarantees than hitchhiking, such as the ability for drivers to request payment on long-distance journeys.
