PayPal to move payments away from terminals
PayPal is working on a range of technologies aimed at making digital payments more flexible, VP of mobile David Marcus tells All Things Digital. Marcus plays down near-field communication (NFC), which is a key component of new mobile payment wallets from Visa, MasterCard and Google. "By the time NFC catches up, we will be in a world that will move away from the point-of-sales terminal," he says. "Yes, NFC will be useful and we'll be there, but today we are trying to do more than replace swiping with tapping."
