Palo Alto startup Nicira is coming out of stealth with USD50m in funding to date, making its Network Vitualisation Platform (NVP) public for the first time. NVP, available to enterprise clients since July 2011, is a development of existing single-computer virtualisation, providing scalable virtualisation for entire networks. It's designed for companies processing large amounts of data on-demand, and is already used by AT&T, eBay, NTT and others.
