Lumatic, maker of an Android mapping app for pedestrians, cyclists and public transport users, has raised an USD800,000 seed round from Neoteny Labs, 500 Startups, and angels including Chamath Palihapitiya, Allen Morgan and Ted Rheingold. Lumatic’s app, which currently only works in San Francisco, displays a street-view with photos and arrows pointing in the right direction whilst a user walks, cycles or buses through the city, and calculates its routes to benefit different types of user. The app uses Open Street Map as a foundation, but its user experience is centred around using photography, landmarks and visual cues to help people navigate cities.
