The Daily has hit 100,000 paying subscribers a year after its launch, according to its publisher Greg Clayman, as adoption of the News Corp-owned tablet publication continues. Clayman says that approximately half of subscribers pay the USD0.99 fee while the other half opt for News Corp’s USD39.99 tariff, generating total sales of USD4.57m annually. The figure is an eighth of the 800,000 paying subscribers that The Daily needs to become a financial success, and News Corp will be hoping that the publication hits that target with the title branching out beyond Apple’s iPad, launching on Samsung’s Android-based Galaxy Tab 10.1 earlier this year.
