Yahoo! is launching a new App Search service, allowing users to search the iOS or Android app stores using keywords or search terms, in the same way as a web search engine. Results appear as a list of matching titles with pricing, user ratings and a screenshot, and can be filtered through device-specific or free/paid criteria. Users can also view the top trending, top free, top paid and most reviewed apps. Currently, both Android and iOS stores facilitate search for exact app names, but do not offer search by keyword. Yahoo! has run an app curation service since June.
