Sony appoints new CEO
Sony is appointing Kazuo Hirai as president and CEO of the company, in a move designed to align its consumer electronics division with content and services. Hirai, who currently oversees Sony’s consumer electronics and videogame divisions, will be promoted in April. He is credited with turning around Sony’s previously unprofitable videogame business, and now faces the challenge of restoring the wider company to its former fortunes after four loss-making years and a 20-year stock price lull.
