Apple is reportedly planning to include NFC technology in its next iPhone model, suggesting that the device will include mobile payment services. According to blog 9to5Mac, Apple's engineers are "heavy into" NFC having held back on integrating the technology into the iPhone 4S over concerns surrounding standardisation between manufacturers, credit card firms and mobile operators. Embedded NFC chips would enable users to make wireless payments by waving their smartphones in front of in-store payment terminals without having to enter credit card details. The rumours come as Nokia also hints that it is planning to bring NFC capability to its Lumia smartphone range, with head of design Marko Atisaari hinting that the firm is working with Microsoft on the integration.
