New York-based cloud website host Synacor acquired Carbyn for USD1.1m this month, a purchase revealed in Synacor's pre-IPO filing. The acquisition will add Carbyn's HTML5 mobile-accessible OS to Synacor's own existing web and cable TV services, which let users already set up and access their own websites, email, games and music from the web and from cable TV. With the purchase, Synacor is taking on seven of the Canadian company's eight employees. Synacor is looking for USD75m in its IPO, releasing 6,818,170 shares at a price between USD10 and USD12.
