Twitter ad revenues soared 233% year on year during 2011 to hit USD139.5m, according to the latest stats from eMarketer, and the research firm expects them to grow a further 83% to total USD259.9m this year. Though growth will slow after the treble-digit increase last year, Twitter’s global ad revenues are estimated to reach USD540m by 2014. The stats illustrate the microblogging site’s progress as it continues its attempts to monetise its popularity through ads.
