Tech firms unite in anti-phishing alliance

Major web players including Google, Facebook, Microsoft, PayPal and Yahoo! are forming an alliance to stop phishing emails reaching inboxes or spam folders. The alliance, known as the Domain-based Message Authentication, Reporting and Conformance - the DMARC - protects users from phishers attempting to trick them into providing credit card details, and companies whose domain names are often targets of fraud. While current email software can identify phishers' emails as spam, many users still click on 'spam' mails which appear to be from large and reputable companies.
