News Corp owned IGN is launching a new gaming channel in partnership with Shine Group on YouTube called Start, as part of a push by the video site for more premium content. Start will feature five original weekly shows, two of which will be produced in-house, with the other three made by Shine Group’s Reveille Productions. As a channel partner, IGN will reimburse YouTube for a production advance through advertising revenues. A 15-second advert will show before each 10-minute episode on the channel. IGN.com has a UK audience of 3.7m unique users and an EU audience of 14m users in Dec 2011.
