Amazon is considering an expansion to its video streaming service, possibly making its Instant Video into a standalone subscription-based service, anonymous sources tell the New York Post. The move would extend the retail giant's competition with Netflix, the US-based online TV streaming service losing its former monopoly following an alienating price hike. The two companies are already competing through Amazon's LOVEFiLM service in the UK and Europe, but Amazon's Instant Video service in the US is much more limited.
