Rhapsody is planning a push into cars and connected devices in the home as it bids to take on rival Spotify in Europe. The firm is moving beyond its native US and launching in Europe this year having acquired the UK and German assets of Napster, saying that the acquisition will give it a running start in Europe. Speaking to StrategyEye, Rhapsody says consumer demand for streaming is reaching "tipping point", with music lovers expecting 24-hour access at work, at home and while travelling. It adds that more than 40% of its streams in 2011 came from mobile devices, and that it will be pushing further into the connected devices market in Europe.
