RealNetworksis selling a significant number of its patents, and its next generation video codec software, to Intel Corporation for USD120m. The deal includes around 190 patents and 170 patent applications. Under the deal, RealNetworks will retain certain rights, allowing it to continue to use some of the patents in its current and future products. In addition to the sale, the two companies will collaborate on future support and development of the next-generation video codec software and related products.
