Facebook is worth an estimated EUR15.3bn (USD19.89bn) to Europe, bucking the overall trend of decline in the economy and supporting some 232,000 European jobs, according to a study by Deloitte for the social network. Speaking at the DLD conference in Munich, Facebook COO Sheryl Sandberg says that social media is a "bright spot" during the current economic troubles and that the sector is a "serious" business. "It's not just posts and pictures and the fun things with friends, this is really serious stuff," she says. "This about growth, this is about jobs, and empowering people."
