YouTube now streams more than 4bn videos every day, a 25% increase in the past eight months, with the firm attributing the growth to its moves beyond the PC and onto internet-connected devices, including smartphones, tablets and TVs. Speaking to Reuters, YouTube claims that uploading is also on the rise, with around 60 hours of video now added to the site every minute, up from 48 hours in May. The growth comes as the video site looks to increase the amount of time that each user spends on the site with a push into premium content and original programming as YouTube targets higher ad rates in a bid to hit profitability.
