Symantec pays USD115m for email archiving partner LiveOffice

Tue Jan 17 2012, 09:58 AM

Online security company Symantec has acquired LiveOffice, its hosted OEM partner for its 'Enterprise Vault' archive service, for around USD115m. LiveOffice archives within the cloud, and Symantec expects the acquisition to help it provide a more comprehensive cloud-based information storage and security solution. Simultaneously, Symantec is announcing deeper integration between its offerings for storage and for eDiscovery, a tool used by legal professionals to gather digital information. Symantec provides eDiscovery through Clearwell Systems, which it acquired in July 2011 as part of the same drive for integrated solutions that pushed the LiveOffice purchase.
