Email infrastructure platform SendGrid has raised USD21m, soon after entering into a partnership with Microsoft’s Windows Azure cloud platform. The startup’s cloud-based platform delivers emails for businesses and organisations, avoids 'spam' classifications, and analyses the success of campaigns. The partnership with Azure will allow SendGrid, which graduated from the TechStars programme in 2009, to combine its brand recognition among tech startups with Microsoft's huge enterprise user base. This round saw investment from all previous backers, led by Bessemer Venture Partners. The Colorado-based company will spend the money on new hires as it looks to expand its customer base, particularly within the enterprise sector.
