Twitter to hit half a billion accounts next month
Twitter will reach 500m registered accounts in February, hitting the major milestone as the firm moves to extend its reach further into the mainstream and shore up its ad business. Twitter tracking service Twopcharts shows that the social network is now up to 465m registered accounts and, with 11 accounts registered every second, estimates that it will hit half a billion in just over a month's time. Twopcharts measures registration dates and ID numbers of all Twitter accounts registered to make its calculations.
