AppTap, maker of an app recommendation service, has closed a USD4m round led by Syncom Venture Partners, with existing investor New Atlantic Ventures also participating. Roy Kosuge of Syncom will also join AppTap’s board. The funding will be used to broaden AppTap’s advertising capabilities and expand its global distribution partnerships. The company’s platform, which can be embedded in websites, recommends more than 150m apps a month internationally. The service aims to find the best of the crowded apps market, using social features as well as curation.
